Six months back, the life was so normal. Everyone was busy running in a race to fulfill their dreams. We all had big dreams and future plans. Money and social status were the most important things in life. Though we still used to care for the family, yet no body had time for them. Family and health were taken for granted. We were so proud of the advanced technologies and had full faith on the modern health care system. Who would have thought then, that the time would come when nothing of this will matter. Half of the things in our lives would lose the pace and we will be confide to our own house with no social interactions for the months to come. Not only us, but all the countries also will seize their border and there will be a lockdown worldwide. This could have happened only in case of war. But yes, what we are facing now is nothing less than a war....a war against a small virus...Corona!!
By the time I am writing this, more than 25 lacs of people are effected with this virus and more than 1.5 lacs have died worldwide. We can't even imagine the condition, Italy had faced during the start of this pandemic. Italien states couldn't even find enough places to bury their deceased. It was a shock to hear their minister state that condition has gone out of their hands. UK Prime minister himself was admitted to hospital due to the virus and even the Royal family was not untouched by it. US now is reporting more than 10K new cases on a daily basis. Eventually, modern health care system, of which we were so proud of, has bent their knees in front of this small virus. Only thing that matters now is a struggle to keep our self and our family safe from this virus and avoid spreading it.
Though I live in Europe, which is the current epicenter of the virus, I still worry more for India than Germany. Having followed the news of the virus in Italy and Spain, and considering the population and its density in India, I am worried, if this spreads in India, then there will be no control to it. Because of the worldwide lockdown, we can't even reach our families in India and can only pray for their safety.
I got little confidence earlier, after seeing the initial measures taken by the Indian Government. India timely started the lockdown and started identifying people and quarantining them coming from abroad. Government is trying everything possible to support people, conducting tests, and helping them not to spread this virus. They are trying their best to make basic requirements available even during the lockdown and making sure the vendors don't take advantage of this period and raise the price. Our PM is also trying all the means to keep people motivated during this difficult time. To control such a large population against such a big pandemic, sometimes hard measures are required. But all what is being done by the government or by the police is for the safety of our own people. Police men, doctors, nurses, emergency services are all giving their best now, just so that rest of the people could stay safe. All they want from us is a little support, social distancing and that we should stay at home.
To my horror, even after such measures taken by the Government and despite telling frequently to follow social distancing, there are many people gathering in community and doctors, police and nurses are mistreated. In other countries, doctors and emergency services are getting full support from their civilians and they are being appreciated by offering food and wishes. I guess India is the only country where doctors are mistreated because they are trying to help you. Doctors are keeping their and their families lives at stake to help overcome this condition only to deserve this response? India right now fighting 2 wars simultaneously. One with the virus itself and the other with the people who because of their sick mentality doesn't want to support.
I am not sure what is so difficult to understand here. The virus with which everyone is fighting has no treatment. It's everyone's duty to fight with it as per their own abilities, helping by not spreading it. Not only for our self but also for our family, our loved ones. If you don't trust your government, please check Internet and follow news and see what has already happened in Italy. If you are found positive with virus than your full family will go to quarantine. In such case, if someone from your family has to go to hospital due to emergency and if something happens to that person in hospital, then you won't be able to see that person again in life (as you are quarantined) and the person in hospital will directly go to the cemetery and will be buried without seeing the family for the last time. You won't even be able to give a proper farewell to that person. This is what exactly has happened in Italy. In many countries, because of the high number of deaths, all the morgues are full and there are hardly anyone to pickup the deads. I hope no one wants to face this condition in India.
Finally, I really want to beg, please educate yourself and cooperate with Government. Please follow what is being told and stay at home. It's everyone's responsibility to fight against this virus. Having handful of people following the rule and sitting at home won't solve the issue. Everyone has to follow the rule of social distancing and break the chain of this spread. Please do it for your family, for your loved ones, for your kids who still have to see this beautiful world and for your parents who spent their life protecting you, now it's your time to protect them.
